Professional Singer, Songwriter & Vocal Coach.

Hi, I’m Kay!

My Story.

As I grew up (singing my head off), no-one (at the time) really understood my love or passion for music or helped build me up & show me the path along the way to my musical goals and dreams; Yet I still managed to get a triple distinction on my Music Practice college course and was fortunate enough to go on to get a First Class BA honours degree in Music & Music Technology in 2014 from Derby University where my original song was entered into the national songwriting competition on behalf of the University.

As a youngster with no vocal training, coaching or guidance and after performing professionally (off the back of my zero training!), I ended up getting vocal fold paresis and muscle tension dysphonia (worst time ever - I’ll do you a video!)

Since then, I then made it my mission to learn everything about the voice I could, because I WOULD sing again! (If you’ve seen Celine Dion’s documentary you’ll understand - it was literally as sad as that!). From hours of training, coaching and speech therapy I managed to build myself back from the ground up and now I perform all over the UK! I run and manage a duo, perform in live bands as well as perform in a tribute band regularly. I’ve had original songs played on BBC introducing as well as performed for Channel 4, ICC Birmingham, Focusrite and had radio play on BBC Radio Derby and BBC Radio Leicester.

I continue to educate myself ALL the time (because you can never know too much!) and have qualified in Vocal Health First Aid along the way and have being doing so in my coaching for over 8 years now!

But the two things I love and find the most rewarding about being a coach are:

  1. I get to be the support I never had, for you! I absolutely love building my students up whether they’re professional or aspiring singers (because everyone can learn to sing!) I get to be a mentor, cheerleader and a friend in the process, because I DO understand and I’m STILL living it! :) *Caveat - I’m not a smoke blower, I will always be honest with you! If you’re a little flat, I’ll let you know, but I’ll always do it in a nice way! :)

  2. I’m really proud of the wonderful and supportive community I’ve built over the years and I’ll always continue to provide you with extracurricular activities that will boost both your performance skills & networking circle. From the live performance evenings I run, to group classes to karaoke nights, the learning never stops once you leave the lesson, the door is always left open to help build your opportunities and skills up!

If you’ve made it to the end of this, I’m super impressed! You must be pretty dedicated! So much so that I’d like to reward you with 10% off your first lesson! Just enquire and make sure to put code: KAY10 in your enquiry message! :) See you in class!

There’s probably lot’s more I can ramble on about but if you have any questions just ask away!

Kay xx
